The Chinese often consume fresh ginger during the cold winter months as it imparts a warming sensation to their bodies. The ginger-flavoured Sprite On Fire from Coca-Cola was launched during the winter (2004) with the tagline “A burning sensation, can you stand it?”.
For centuries the Chinese have stored ginger in underground caves for up to 2 years without rotting at temperatures below 25°C.
